First trip as a family of 4!
HI EVERYONE!
I want to share the photoshoot of our first family vacation with Isabella!
It has been quite a while since my last blog post. A lot has changed – we have a new member of the family! I’ve promised myself to dedicate more time to my blog – it’s a great way for me to express myself and it’s important to have something separate from my daily mom life. Today’s blog post is about our recent family travel to Cancun, Mexico. This was our first trip as a family of 4 and first experience traveling with 2 kids. Traveling introduces a variety of disruption to your kids’ regular routine. You’re unlikely to have a totally consistent schedule for things like meals, naps, and so forth. For those who may not know, I have two daughters. Juliette is four and a half and Isabella is 9 months old.
As with every trip, I was mentally preparing myself for the flights. I was a bit nervous to see how the 5 hour flight would go with two small kids. I prepared a lot of entertainment for my 4 years old – new sticker books, coloring books and her favorite snacks. I hoped that Isabella would sleep for a few hours on the flight, but she decided to do a short nap and was awake the rest of the time. Our flight was fine and the girls were good but it did feel long.
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton, Cancun. My girlfriend was there twice and highly recommended this hotel. We were immediately impressed with the level of service, and the dreamy blue ocean with white sand was breathtaking. Restaurants at the hotel were fantastic. For our first dinner we went to Fontina. This restaurant felt like we were in Paris! The ambiance was gorgeous and food was delicious. The staff were extremely accommodating and really kicked off our trip to a great start!
For our next dinner, we went to The Club Grill. While dining, Isabella eventually got fussy and required me to put her on my lap. Within a few moments, a restaurant staff member walked over and offered to hold Isabella so I could enjoy my meal. I can say confidently, no one at a restaurant has ever offered to entertain my kids so I could enjoy my dinner! Isabella received a guided tour of the restaurant and met the other people who were dining that evening. There was also live piano music which greatly enhanced the atmosphere. Needless to say, I highly recommend The Club Grill after our incredible experience.
Our last and by far the most beautiful and unforgettable dinner was at Casitas. This dinner is set up right on the sand just steps away from the ocean waves! As this dinner was also past Isabella’s bed time, she eventually got fussy and I had to hold her. Again within few moments, our waiter arrived to hold Isabella. Isabella received another personal tour down the row of ocean front dining tables, meeting each of the guests who were dining that evening. Juliette enjoyed her dinner and then quickly found entertainment playing in the sand with her sister while we continued eating.
For our room accommodations, we booked a one bedroom suite so we could put the girls to sleep in a separate room. Our girls adjusted pretty well to the new environment. I always simulate aspects of their home routine when we travel. I stick with the same bedtime routines and bring all their bedtime items with us. One of the constants are my Young Living essential oils. I did bath time for the girls with Lavender essential oil and put Sleepyeze oil on their feet so they fall asleep fast and get a full night of rest. It’s really important to simulate the same comforting environment you have at home for your baby when traveling. Our essential oils provide her the same smells and relaxing routine she associates with bed time at home.
We enjoyed every moment of our 8 nights at the Ritz Carlton, Cancun. It was an amazing trip and much needed quality time as a family. I already miss staring our at the gorgeous ocean from our balcony and waking up to that view as I sat outside sipping my morning coffee! We will definitely return for another family vacation at the Ritz Carlton, Cancun.
Thank you for reading! XoXo
