Family trip to Maui
Hi Everyone,
Today’s blog post is about our family trip and some tips for traveling with a toddler! My cutie has been a great traveler so far. We spent an amazing 10 days in Maui, Hawaii. Juliette was so ecstatic, she probably thought we moved to Hawaii!:-) Every day was tanning and swimming under the sun, what could be better?:-)
We stayed at the Four Seasons Maui.
Maui is an island in the Central Pacific, part of the Hawaiian archipelago. Maui, known also as “The Valley Isle,” is the second largest Hawaiian island. The island is beloved for its world-famous beaches. Maui boasts over 30 miles of beautiful beaches. My first time in Maui was 3 years ago when Chris proposed. It was amazing to come back with our daughter Juliette.
The Four Seasons Maui is a perfect place for a romantic trip and traveling with kids. They have everything you need for your children to make them feel at home. If you want some kids-free time to enjoy the adults only pool, you can take your children to kids suite on property. They offer supervised play time for children over 5 years old, and for children under 5 years of age they partner with local babysitting service providers to ensure your younger children have a dedicated care. We used The Nanny Connection who were responsive and reliable.
We didn’t bring a lot of diapers or many kid-related items. The hotel staff coordinated everything for our daughter prior to our arrival. When we checked in and got to our room we had everything we needed for Juliette: regular and swim diapers in her size, bath and sand toys, milk in the fridge, crib with bumpers and stool for her. I appreciated their attention to detail – it was adorable to see her name spelled out on the bathtub with colorful sponges.
Some tips which were helpful for the airplane and hotel stay.
Juliette loves to travel with her family! She was happy the entire trip and ran around with smile all day.
Our time at the airport was made easy with our ZOE stroller. We bought this umbrella stroller before our trip. It’s very light with a large sun cover which provides a great environment for a nap. It also has optional attachments for a cup and snack holder on either side of the stroller. Juliette absolutely loves these features. The storage basket underneath provided perfect space for diaper change items, sand toys and a swim vest. We took our stroller everywhere we went. Juliette would often climb in the stroller to sit and enjoy a snack while watching the surroundings. This stroller was a must-have for our trip.
I bought an inflatable pillow bed for Juliette to use on plane. You place it on the floor and inflate it to extend the airplane seat creating a sleeping area. She could straighten her legs and comfortably lay down for her nap. I prepared Juliette’s favorite books and snacks for the plane. I also downloaded some cartoons on an iPad in case she got fussy.
Maui is a 3 hour time difference from Los Angeles. Juliette adjusted to the new time on our first night in Hawaii. We put her to bed at 8pm local time like we do it in LA. She woke up after her normal hours of sleep. I brought several items from home that I use for her bedtime routine so Juliette would feel the same consistency.
Our outfits.
The weather was fantastic. It’s not uncommon to get a few minutes of rain throughout the day in Maui, however, we didn’t have one instance of rain. I kept my wardrobe casual and left my heels at home. That said, I did over pack outfits for Juliette and I. I always find it difficult to choose what to take. Whereas my husband can pack a toothbrush and board shorts and be content the entire trip. Most of Juliette’s outfits are ZARA, GAP, Old Navy, and Janie and Jack. I brought our matching swimwear from Marysia. I love to match outfits with my daughter.
