Our lovely vacation!

Hi Everyone!

IMG_8007

It has been quite a while since my last post. I really miss my blog! This blog post is about our first trip with the baby and I hope my tips will be helpful for those who are going on their first trip with a little one. My baby girl Juliette is 5 months old now and she will turn 6 months next weeks. Time is flying by. I can’t believe that my angel is growing so fast. I love her every day more and more! She is an incredible baby who laughs and smiles all of the time. She is a great sleeper and traveling with her was so easy.

I was concerned that we would need to take alot of things with us, but it wasn’t a lot in the end. I started packing one week in advance and prepared a list of what I wanted to take with us. The portable bassinet was a last minute purchase and a life saver to have with us.  Since our baby is not crawling yet, it made the trip much easier. We used the portable bassinet by the pool, beach, on the plane and she even slept in it at night. We had the hotel provide a crib for our room but we didn’t bring crib bumpers. Juliette wasn’t happy the first night without bumpers. Her legs and arms got stuck between the bars. I will certainly make sure to bring crib bumpers with us next time. Once we put her in the portable bassinet, she slept fine the rest of the trip.

Juliette was very good on her first flight. She didn’t cry once. Our outbound flight to Hawaii was rough because of a strong storm that morning. Also, the storm caused our flight to detour to San Francisco first, where we then spent 2 hours sitting on the plane while the flight crew was changed due to their crew flight hour limitations. It is normally a 6 hour flight to Hawaii from Los Angeles, but instead of that our total travel time was 10 hours. I think my husband and I were more tired than Juliette. 🙂

It is a 2 hour time difference between Hawaii and Los Angeles and Juliette adjusted to the new time very well.

The best decision for us was bringing our stroller. I am very happy with our stroller by  Stokke. It is very comfortable and the umbrella attachment helps protect baby from the sun. I packed all of Juliette’s clothes in the two stroller bags. We got through security and up to the gate with the stroller, at which time my husband packed the stroller to a travel case. I saw that we were only ones who did that. All other parents with smaller children had their strollers checked without a case or bag. I think our case provides added protection from damage while being loaded and unloaded.

Before the trip I decided to book a photoshoot and looked for a long time for a photographer. I found the website www.flytographer.com where you can choose the location and photographer. All photographers have portfolios available to review and their prices were reasonable. I wanted to do family pictures on the beach. I loved all of the pictures.

A short guide to the South of France

Hi Everyone! I was looking through my old pictures from the South of France and decided to share with you one of my best and most memorable trips to Côte D’azur. One of my thoughts when I saw these photos was how much I miss my long hair and I have to grow it back.

It was just two years ago before my move to sunny Los Angeles California.  After 3 months of non-stop studying before our finals at University, my girlfriend Anastasia and I decided to go on vacation to the French Riviera to celebrate the end of our studying. I remember the many times we stayed at the library till midnight during the 2 months before final exams. And I kind of miss it. But, lets get back to our journey to France.

South of France is very touristy, but not to the same extent as a Paris. July and August are the most crowded months.  We went there in the beginning of July and it wasn’t that bad. Our first destination was Nice and I wasn’t impressed with the city. I found it a little bit dirty and unattractive. But we spent 2 days there and it was more than enough. This place is a day-trip destination. After one night in Nice we got an express to Cannes and I knew from the beginning that I loved it. It was a lot of fun and we met a lot of nice, friendly people. The beach is very nice there; we spent most of our time at Bâoli Beach Cannes.

As our trip was spontaneous, we didn’t plan which place would be next . We just got to the station and got a ticket to Saint Tropez. St Tropez is a summer home of famous, rich and beautiful people. Night life is crazy there during summer. It is about a lot of fun, boat parties and clubbing. With all this night life Saint Tropez is a very beautiful place. Everything is so small and old. We walked around the city twice in one day.

Our last stop was Monaco a very nice and small city. The main attractions are Monte-Carlo Casino and Opera House. Monaco is famous with upscale hotels, designer boutiques, luxury yachts, and restaurants. Monaco’s wealthiest district is Monte-Carlo and it is the most crowded touristic attraction. Both of our nights out we spent in Buddha bar. I like that place a lot, beautiful design, nice people, good food, great atmosphere. People watching is always a must at Bhudda bar. It is the place to see and be seen in Monaco. Dress to impress I say!

image Pizza, gelato, wine, history, architecture, Italian cheese, art, Romeo and Juliette – is what comes to mind when I think about Italy. Italy is an exciting place to visit because it has so many attractions to offer. Rome, Venice, Florence, and Verona are places you must see during your vacation in Italy.

Italian food is a culture! I am crazy about Italian food. It is my favorite cuisine. One of my guilty Italian addictions is gelato. It is the Italian version of ice-cream. It is like a mix of American frozen yogurt with ice-cream. You have to try everything in Italy and be prepared to gain a few pounds. It is not a place to diet. Italian cuisine is amazing and varies across the different regions. I highly advise against eating in touristy places. Of course you should pick the nice restaurant with a view once and enjoy a glass of Italian wine. However, when you walk and explore the city you will see a lot of small, local, and cozy places to eat. Italians call these places “trattoria”.  They are usually casual family-owned places serving home cooked meals. The food there is much much better compared to touristy restaurants.

Architecture is impressive in Italy. You will find diverse architectural styles there – ancient Roman style buildings, Rococo, Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau. I could not stop admiring the beauty of every street, sculpture, square and building. It is like walking in a museum. Italy is thousands of years of history that you can see and feel while exploring the city. Every part of Italy is rich with architectural heritage.

My Italian vacation was fantastic but you will feel there is never enough time for everything. There are too many places to see and explore. Don’t rush or adhere to a strict schedule to see everything in one day. Enjoy the beauty of Italy and eat a lot! 🙂
